Why Book With Us?

Husband and wife team, Gavin and Leanne Jeffcoat are the owners of Hike & Bike Coromandel. Like any small team of two we focus on working to our strengths and passions. Gavin is often out seen driving our travellers to the Coromandel Coastal Walkway, our core business. He’s a dab hand at repairing bikes and will be in the workshop in Coromandel Town, when he isn’t scheduled for the drive.

Leanne is more likely to be seen working at our Coromandel base or if not, she is working from home at our historic property in Colville. Someone’s gotta do all the office work, marketing, managing bookings and of course, putting in place awesome Coromandel experiences for our travellers. Then there’s that jolly food trailer to run on the front lawn, Trailer Treats Coromandel, serving delicious real fruit delights throughout the summer season and warmer winter days.

One of the things I was keen to discuss to start my blog career, was what draws you to one business over another. Is it the first one you google with the usual, generic use of marketing speak like “providing world class service…..etc etc” ? But truly does that really entice you to a business or make you think using those words is just a bit cliche. Please do your homework and look a bit deeper. Afterall, you are investing in a full day of some serious interaction not to mention money. Doesnt make for much fun if you aren’t going to get along.

So how do you really decipher one operator over another without relying on those rather vague unquantified statements or google position? View the important small stuff, do they stamp their personality onto the business via Facebook, Insta, websites and blogs. Take a look at their About Us section, that’s if they have one they want to share!

Too often I hear or see other business owners with a stony, bland workface and monotone conversations when dealing with potential customers. Often I see this as being unapproachable, disinterested even, is this a culture throughout the business? Bringing a bit of tone to your voice and a sprinkling of humor never goes amiss, all delivered within the bounds of professionalism of course.

Prior to any booking, how are the conversations going? Did you feel at ease, get the information you were after or be made to feel like just another business transaction? Were answers to queries or phone calls made in a timely manner? Did someone get back to you today? Did they seem to know their products and what they were talking about? Did you gain any added insights from the conversation?

Be safe in the knowledge that we will take care of your needs, for the full Hike & Bike experience. From the first point of contact to the final goodbyes at the end of the day. Yes our tours start as strangers, with the usual odd awkwardness, but typically end a chatty, happy bunch often with connections of a lifetime made. That is our goal but how do you do some pre-work on that?? Consider all the above AND check, check, check the feedback first. Do your research when you are about to commit to spending time and money with someone you do not know. We are very proud of our solid Trip Advisor Feedback. Having your peers judge you at the end of the day surely is a far better recommendation than believing a few smart, savvy words, you see strung together in a brochure or on a website.
